The Seal Children inhabits a place of magic between the land and the sea. We want to take people out, away from the land and into the selkie’s element.
Our plan is to take a boat trip, out to Ramsey Island where seals can be seen all year round. Then to swing around St David's Head to The Gesail, where the old villagers from Maes Y Mynydd once kept their fishing boats.
The boat trip will be run by Ffion Rees who has driven boats through these waters for so long - there is no one better to take to the water with. She has started her own boat company. So, the book launch will also be a boat launch for Falcon Boats.
This event will also celebrate the launch of Otter-Barry Books - a new and beautiful voice in the children’s book industry. The Seal Children will be one of the first titles to be published by them.
Later the same day there will be an opportunity to spend time with Jackie talking, dreaming and listening about selkies.
At Solva Woollen Mill we have created this unique opportunity for you to come and enjoy a talk and slideshow about the story of the book, about Maes y Mynydd, where the book is set and a reading of The Seal Children.
Here's how you can join us to celebrate three very special events - a book launch, a boat launch and a publishing company launch. However places are very limited. We plan to run 2 boat trips each with 11 spaces on board.
Please book before 8th April and pay in full to secure your place.
