Hiraeth is a word that has no direct translation into English. It is a longing for home and all that it represents. When we sense echoes from a time that once was, look in admiration at the landscape that we came from, or smile at past jokes told around a dinner table by candle light, that is Hiraeth. This is the concept that this new design is based upon. The warp that runs through each colour way combines the colours of the Welsh landscape. The greens of the hills, pinks of the heather, smoke of the slate and gold of the daffodil meld with the unique weft and speak of the land they came from.

These traditional floor rugs are woven at the mill on our Dobcross looms that were designed in the 1800s. We use 100% British Wool which is an amazing natural fibre that has many characteristics making it ideal for rugs. As well as being soft to walk on, these rugs are machine washable and long-lasting, making them both practical and stylish. They are ideal for hard floors such as wood or stone and we suggest using an anti slip underlay to prevent the rug moving and provide further cushioning. They all have hand finished fringes on both ends and are fully reversible. This design will add warmth and comfort to any room, traditional or contemporary.

This rug is woven using a rich red weft through a rainbow of warp. The colours may vary from the photo, sizes are approximate.
