New for August 2017 an inspiring new story from Jackie Morris.

"At last all were gathered inside the ark. It heaved with animals, large and small. Mrs Noah wore a brand-new coat, with a hood and a cape - and very deep pockets. Lots of pockets."

When Mr Noah builds the ark, he makes two lists - one for all the animals who will come on board and one for those troublesome creatures he will leave behind. Meanwhile, Mrs Noah gets out her sewing machine and makes a coat with very deep pockets. Lots of pockets.

Jackie Morris writes “Mrs Noah’s Pockets is about a character very under-represented in historical writings, the long suffering wife of the boat builder. The story came in such a rush that it seemed the words were writing themselves. Together, I hope, James and I are creating something different.”

Years ago James Mayhew wrote "Can You See a Little Bear" for Jackie at a time when she was considering giving up illustration. They made a bargain. He would write Jackie a text and in return she would write him one. And so a few years ago, mixed with a measure of awe at James Mayhew’s work in Tewkesbury on Noya’s Fludde led Jackie to write Mrs Noah’s Pockets.

This is a delightful story with a new twist to the classic Noah's Ark tale. It features a host of mythical creatures including dragons and unicorns.
